Chicken Milanesa

Chicken milanesa is one of my favorite ways to prepare boneless skinless chicken breast, a cut which can often be dry and boring. For a really quick dinner, I’ll fry a couple of chicken milanesa cutlets and steam some broccoli. Serve those together with a few lemon wedges and some hot sauce and voila. Healthy(ish) dinner is ready in under 20 minutes. And everyone likes it! Even babies* like it!

Serve it alone with a side of vegetables and squeeze of lemon, or put it between bread to make a big, fat sandwich!

I made this last night after seeing your video and it was a big hit! Chicken is often something I set out and dont know what the hell I should do with it. This came at the perfect time and was so tasty! My baby even loved it 😉

Chicken breasts are on sale at our local HEB this week, so I know what I’m making for dinner one night.

    • Hilah on March 7, 2016 at 8:51 am

      Yay! Man, I miss HEB.

I tried this chicken milanesa recipe out on my crew last week after a busy day at work. This recipe is so quick & easy, and very much a crowd-pleaser. My little monsters scarfed it right up and came back for more! We’ve followed your recipes for a couple years now, and try a new one out every couple weeks. Rock on Hilah!!!

    Hi Hilah,

I have been making this recipe for a few years now after I came across it somewhere! While perfect just as you posted, I sometimes add garlic powder and some parmesan cheese to my panko mix for a little blast of flavor! De-lish!

    • Hilah on April 7, 2016 at 8:12 am

      Yum! Love adding Parmesan. 🙂

Hi Hilah! I’ve been following your recipes online for about 2 years now, but I’ve never commented so I hope you reply! What does the “milanesa” in this mean? I’m very curious. Suppose I could ask Google, but I’d rather find out from you. And I’m super excited to try it out, I love me some chicken cutlets. Thanks!

      Hi Cierra!
Milanesa is just the Spanish version of Milanese, which comes from the word/place Milan, Italy. I think the recipes are identical, I’m just used to calling it milanesa because I’m from Texas and that’s what it’s called there!

This is one of my favorites things to do with chicken breasts. I like to serve it with a baby arugula salad and a tart vinaigrette, and sometimes rice too.

    • Hilah on November 17, 2016 at 6:33 pm

      That’s a great combo!

I made it and was absolutely delicious, accompanied with an aragula salad with citrus dressing and parmessan and glass of wine of course. Outstanding!!

    • Hilah on July 9, 2018 at 7:40 pm

Fantastic! Glad you enjoyed, Ana. Sounds like a great menu

Howdy from Central Texas! I, the vegetarian in the house, am making this for my partner (total carnivore) this evening, with chicken cutlets from…HEB! Wish me luck that he loves it ??

    • Hilah on September 6, 2019 at 4:23 pm

I can pretty much GUARANTEE it, David! P.S. I’ve also done this Milanese recipe using seitan cutlets!
